Hydrojet processing is the process of spraying water that has been increased to high pressure without mixing abrasives from a nozzle with a diameter of about 0.1 to 0.3 mm.

Although it is only water, it is not suitable for hard materials, but it can cut soft materials such as sponges and soft rubber. Since the jet is narrower than the abrasive type, more complicated cutting can be performed. Not only the outer shape but also the inner shape can be cut.

There is also a type in which a slurry having viscosity such as a liquid polymer is added to a water stream. Although not as good as the abrasive type, there are advantages such as increased machinability and a clean cut surface and less burrs than the normal hydro type.
